Three Main Types of Marketing
Marketing is a common term that many people hear or read
from time to time, as it is increasingly involved. It is basically a process
around buying and selling different types of products on the market. There are
three main types of marketing that a person can participate in. These three
types are non-differential marketing, differentiated marketing and centralized
marketing. Each of these types has its own definitions, strengths and
weaknesses, and the individual or company should consider it carefully before
anything else.
From the name itself, the first type is non-differential
marketing, also known as mass marketing. This simply means that a company
doesn't mind the difference between consumers. It seems that all consumers are
the same because they like it, don't like it and more. The company's exit from
the market only brings specific product and marketing strategies. This is
actually a good marketing method because it's easy to plan and certainly won't
miss any one consumer. However, because this type of marketing is not aimed at
a specific consumer, if it does not succeed, then it will definitely waste
money, time and effort.
The second type of marketing is differentiated marketing,
which is the exact opposite of undifferentiated marketing. This is because this
particular marketing method is designed to do business with a certain group of
consumers. The products that companies can sell in different market segments
can be identical, but the way they introduce products and their images can be
changed to completely different products. The main disadvantage of this
marketing method is the cost. This is usually more expensive than the first
type, and there are also trends in which companies trying to spread the message
may miss some consumers. However, despite these shortcomings, this type is
still very effective considering the focus on each market segment.
The last type of marketing is called centralized marketing,
which means that a company is trying to communicate its information to a small
market. The idea of centralized marketing is basically the same as the
concept of differentiated marketing, except that it has a smaller market
segment. This allows small companies or companies with very limited resources
to focus on their marketing, but other areas of the market may be overlooked.
And because this marketing approach only emphasizes small market segments,
there may be some issues when the company decides to expand in the future.
These three main marketing methods can be very effective
with appropriate strategy and technology implementation. Careful planning
before anything else is also necessary to prevent wasting time, money and
effort.
